March 29, 1933 â€" November 20, 2012 Edna Butler, age 79, of Millcreek Township, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at UPMC Hamot. Born in Jackson, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Brack and Armilda (Gross) Thompson. She lived most of her life in Erie. Edna was known for her Southern cooking and she loved spending time with her family and friends. Her husband Reece, to whom she was married 35 years, died in 1987. She outlived all of her brothers and sisters: Dora Potter, Martha Turner, Ruth Thompson, Clara South, Carrie Foy, Allene Perkins, and Alfred, Kelly, Raymond, George and Brack Thompson; also sadly losing a son-in-law, Joe Merski, in 2006. She raised six children, always praying she would not outlive any of them, but sadly, lost Theresa Potter in 2003 at the age of 43. Surviving children are Charlotte Farley, husband James, Don Butler, Nettie Merski, Londa Butler, and Jim Butler, wife Kim. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Larry Potter. Further survivors include grandchildren; Matthew, Holly, Amanda, Paul, Jessica, Pat, Sarah, Chris, David, Michael, Alissa, Corry, Kate, Andy, Joey, Tessie, Larry, Kyle and Marleika; and great-grandchildren, Alec, Samantha, Makenna, Evan, Mara, Elle, Kellen, and Baby Whitford, due in December, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Rylee, Emarie, Xavier, Harper, Cassidy and Reece; her constant companion, her dog Molly; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many long-time friends. Friends may call Friday from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a service there Saturday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Jim Turner and Rev. Jody Irwin. Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials made be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
