Matthew L. Krystek, age 39, of Erie, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Erie on January 16, 1973. He is the son of James M. Krystek and Patricia A. Perfetto. Matthew was a hard worker. Working as a handyman, he especially enjoyed roofing and painting. He also worked in the restaurant business. He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Matthew loved reading, walking on the beach, doing yard work and gardening. He also loved his cats. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Robert P. Perfetto, his grandparents and an uncle. Matthew is survived by both parents, his father James M. Krystek (wife Linda) of Erie, mother Patricia Perfetto of Hudson, Fla.; his fiancé Leah Terella of Erie; three sisters, Caroline Krystek (partner Patrick Calloway) of Sterling, Va., Renee Krystek of Chicago, Ill., and Kimberly Perfetto of Erie; a brother, Robert D. Perfetto (wife Karen) of New York, N.Y.; and a grandmother, Emma Perfetto of Erie. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Home & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard, and also on Monday from 2-4 p.m. with services at 4 p.m., with Chaplain Dennis Chludzinski officiating.
