Mary Elizabeth Cary Whitehair, 93, of Orange City, Florida passed peacefully on December 1, 2012 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Healthcare Center. Born on June 1, 1919, in Oil City, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of Frank J. Carey and Mildred Tracy Carey. On December 15, 1941, in Erie, Pennsylvania, she married Denzle Quay Whitehair, who died on February 15, 2003. Mrs. Whitehair was a graduate of Coudersport High School, worked during WWII at Burke Electric Company and throughout her life had resided in Erie, Pennsylvania, Marietta, Georgia and Orange City, Florida. Surviving are two sons, Bert Patrick Whitehair married to Anne (Clemens) Whitehair of Deltona, Florida, and Bruce Quay Whitehair married to Rosemary (Bertges) Whitehair of Wattsburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren Wesley Daniel Whitehair of Columbus, Ohio, John Patrick Denzle Whitehair, Samuel Jett Whitehair, Carey Anne Whitehair of Deltona, Florida, and Dr. Brea Elizabeth Whitehair of Alexandria, Virginia and Dr. Adriane Qui Whitehair of North Ridge, Ohio; and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Wayne Jr.) Knowlton of Roulette and Jean (Herman "Johnny") Rennells of Deland, Fla.; one brother, Arch L. Carey of Fairview; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rachel Kenyon, who died in 2012 and one brother, Albert F. Carey, who died in 2009. Memorials may be made to the . A service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Girard Pennsylvania Cemetery.
