Irene (Rayder) Barrett, age 88, of Erie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 2, 2012. She was born April 10, 1924 in Coaldale, Pa. the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Pisanak Rayder. Irene had worked as a secretary and had been living in Connecticut until moving to Erie ten years ago to be near family. On her 80th birthday, she appeared as a contestant on the TV show "The Price is Right". She loved knitting and following the activities of her 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence William Barrett and two sons, Lawrence W. Barrett III and Kevin John Barrett. Irene is survived by six daughters, Margaret Kuhlmann and her husband Richard of Watertown, Conn.; Patricia Barrett and her husband Jim Battistrada of Waterbury, Conn.; Kathryn Delmonico and her husband Stephen of Cheshire, Conn.; L. Jane Binder and her husband Martin of Erie; Susan Coleman and her husband Jeff of Columbus, Ga. and Bridget Macary and her husband Paul of Condler, N.C. She is the grandmother of 12 including Zachary and Jacob Binder, and is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Wednesday, December 5,2012 , at 6 p.m. in the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Visitation will then follow until 8 p.m. Private burial will be in Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501.
