Howard P. "Butch" Pude, age 71, of Erie, passed away on December 7, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 31, 1941, son of the late Herman and Helen Pude. Howard was a graduate of McDowell High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He was very proud of his service to his country and had a great appreciation for, and enjoyed talking to, all service men and women. Howard was a welder/fitter with Eriez Magnetics for 36 years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed being an assistant to the Academy Marching Band for six years, while his children were in high school. He was a member of Wayne Park Baptist Church. Howard was a lifelong, and very avid, Chicago Cubs fan. Besides both parents, Howard was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald, Chester, and Herman, and one sister: Karen Goodenow (Dick). Howard is survived by his wife Judy Pude, to whom he was married for 43 years; one son, Kevin Pude and his wife Christina; one daughter, Sherri Pude, all of Erie; six grandchildren: Megan, Brandon, Zachary, and Kyle Pude, and Richard and Allison Stiles; one great-grandson, Samuel Maxwell, Jr., and two sisters: Irene Wargo of Ocala, Fla., and Beverly Wasson (Larry) of Clarkston, Wa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Services will be held there Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert C. Guldenschuh, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
