Willie Nixon, Jr., age 75, of Chino, Calif., formerly of Erie, Pa., passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Calif. He was born in Heidelberg, Miss., on December 2, 1937, son of the late Willie Nixon, Sr. and Samantha Jones Nixon. He was a resident of Erie for 30 years, graduating from Academy High School, before relocating to California. He retired after 28 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District Police Dept. and had previously worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. While in Erie, he had worked for Kaiser Aluminum. Willie was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in California where he taught Sunday school and was a former member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Erie. He enjoyed bowling (he belonged to three teams) and loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Nina Nixon, and a sister, Eunice Lee Nixon Aiken. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Ann Hendrix Nixon of Chino, Calif.; two sons, Derrick and Mark Nixon of York, Pa.; a daughter, Collette Pratt of Dallas, Texas; two stepsons, Eric Betts and Everett Lathan, both of Calif.; three brothers, Ervin Lee Nixon (Julie), Rev. Louis Eddie Nixon and Rev. Leo James Nixon (Andreina), all of Erie; a sister, Clantha "Chip" Nixon of Erie; two very special aunts, Clantha Jones and Christine Tolbert of Erie; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 160 W. 20th St., and may attend a service at the church on Saturday, 11 a.m., with Rev. Floyd McClure officiating and Rev. Leo James Nixon (his brother) eulogizing. Interment in Erie Cemetery. Funeralization by House of Law Inc., 9406 Frankstown Rd., Penn Hills, Pa.
