Robert Edgar Hassler, age 86, of Erie, died Friday, January 4, 2013. He was born September 28, 1926 in Grove City, Pa., to the late Jacob P. and Mary E. Dippman Hassler. Robert attended Grove City Public Schools and Grove City College, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the Navy from 1944-1946, in the Radio Intelligence Group. Robert worked at Hammermill Paper Company for 41 years, as Corporate Benefits Manager. He was also a member of the Lawrence Lodge 708 F. & A.M., Scottish Bodies - Valley of Erie, and Shriners of North America. Bob was ordained in 1958, and was an elder and member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling, camping, golf, and photography. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson; Ryan Sealy. Survivors include his wife Barbara C. Hassler; two daughters; Barbara A. Sealy (Gary) of Spring, Texas; Nancy L. Hassler of Erie; two granddaughters; Meghan D. Sealy Kamau of Pensacola, Fla.; Brianna R. Walrath (Jake) of Denver, Colo.; one grandson; Lucas P. Sealy and his wife Allison of Spring, Texas. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Parker R. Sealy and two great-granddaughters; Addie K. Sealy and Serena Z. Kamau. Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502, on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and are invited to services there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Andy Holmes officiating.
