James W. Moore, age 79, of North East, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at home. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, son of the late W. Clarence Moore & Grace Starner Moore Drew and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. James was self-employed as a farmer and formerly owned & operated several filling stations throughout Erie and North East, along with Jim's Laundromat. He was a member of St. Gregory Church and loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Mobilia Moore and aunt and uncle, Ruth and Paul Miller from Lancaster, Ohio. Survivors include his daughters, Frances Jones (Richard) of Yorktown, Indiana, Mary Anne Moore of Lawrence Park, and Grace Carter (Robert) of North East; sons, James G. Moore (Debi) of North East and Charles W. Moore (Rhonda) of North East; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; cousin, Becky Miller Parks (Sonny) of Garland, Texas. At Jim's request, private funeral arrangements will be at the convenience of the family, by the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East. Private interment will be in St. Gregory Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Community Nursing Services of North East, Hospice 7 Park Street or Crescent Hose Co., 36 E. Main Street North East, PA 16428. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering at Meeder's Restaurant, 19 E. Main Street Ripley, N.Y., on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
