Sophie L. Weber Crabb, age 98, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Millcreek Manor. Sophie was born October 27, 1914, in Erie, the daughter of the late John and Bessie Weber. A lifelong resident of Erie, Sophie had been a daily Mass attendant at St. Peter Cathedral, until her recent illness. Sophie married her husband, Harland J. Crabb on October 20, 1936 and together they spent 59 wonderful years together, until his death. Although Sophie and Harland had no children of their own, they enjoyed following the lives and activities of their many nieces and nephews, Joan (Rex), Daniel, Jimmy (former wife Marge), Carol (Ward), Robert (Kathy), David (Renee), and Johnny (Victoria). She also babysat her great-nieces and nephews and lavished them with love and affection. She also had the opportunity to travel to Europe, when her nephew Jim was in the Army, stationed in Germany. There she had the chance to visit Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Venice, and Rome, where she had the opportunity to see the Pope and visit the Vatican. Besides her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband Harland Crabb; a sister, Amelia Weber, and five brothers; John Weber, Jr., Leo, Harry, Chester, and Francis Weber. She is survived by her beloved sister, Isabelle (Viki) Weber of Erie, along with her beloved nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St., Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. only, and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., in St. Peter Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Gregory Cemetery.
