Edward H. Hughes, Jr., age 56, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on September 1, 1956, son of the late Edward and Helen Hughes. Ed first worked at Pepsi Bottling Co. and then as a welder at Riley Stoker prior to retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Bingo and was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Indianapolis Colts fan. Also known lovingly as "Bid Ed", he enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hughes; six children, Amy Tingley, Cheryl Snow (Bryan), Edward Hughes III (Jenn Riel), Jessy Watkins (Stevan), Kevin Palmer (Bree) and Mary Hughes (Tony Sack); two sisters, Nancy Lang (David) and Margie Nail; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard P. Hughes; one brother, Richard R. Hughes; one sister, Betty Stevens; and a son-in-law, Jeff Tingley. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
