Leland D. "Lee" Hiner, 76, of Union St., Corry, Pa., a loving husband, father and grandfather died at the Corry Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 18, 2013. Lee was born on June 6, 1936 in Waterman, Pa., a son of the late Vincent and M. Ruth McHenry Hiner. He was raised and educated in Islan, Pa., graduating from Elders Ridge High School in 1954. After high school, he was in the U.S. Naval Reserves until serving active duty with the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany during part of his enlistment. Lee was discharged in 1962 from the Army Reserves. He and his family moved to Corry in 1964 and he was employed at Associated Spring-Barnes Group until 1972. He then started at McInnes Steel Company as a lab technician, and later became supervisor of the NDT laboratory until the mid 1980's. Lee then worked at Foamex for many years and most recently as a part-time school bus driver and for the Corry Auto Auction. Lee was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Corry and a former member of the Jaycee's Club. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and NASCAR fan. In addition to his parents. Lee was preceded in death by a daughter, Berlinda White and a sister, Elaine Shelley. Lee is survived by his wife, E. Ruth McMillen Hiner, whom he married on April 4, 1958 in Youngstown, Ohio.; two daughters, Lisa D. Hiner of Erie, Pa., and Julie Hiner of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a son, Jeff Hiner and his wife Pam of Waterford, Pa.; and a brother, Mac Hiner and his wife Jackie of Corry, Pa. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 11 a.m. Janet Sill, lay minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa. Memorials may be made to the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 921 N. Center St., Corry, PA 16407 or the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16501-1006.
