Jerome (Jerry) Kirschner, age 82, of North East, died on Monday, January 21, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on July 18, 1930 in Erie, Pa., son of the late Carl and Marie Becker Kirschner. He graduated Cathedral Preparatory High School & was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command . Jerry formerly owned & operated Jerry's Exxon Service in North East for 26 years and was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hazel Orton Kirschner whom he married April 7, 1956; his children, Dr. Greg Kirschner (Carolyn) of Park Ridge, Ill., Susan Meixner (Ed) of Ashland, Ohio, & Dean Kirschner (Patti) of North East; grandchildren, Christine, Katie, Stephanie, Jon, Emily, Mary, Rachel, Michael, Eddie, Anna, Niklaus, Hannah, Max, Karl, & Lexi; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday 2 p.m to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory Church.
