Lloyd A. McGarvey, age 82, of Erie, passed away at his home on January 30, 2013. He was born in Erie on September 20, 1930, son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy McGarvey. Lloyd was a graduate of Academy High School and Erie Business Center. He was employed with General Electric for over 35 years, until his retirement. Lloyd was a member of Mill Village United Methodist Church. He was involved with the Masonic Bodies for over 50 years and was a member of Perry Keystone Lodge #392 F&AM, Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine, the West County Shrine Club, the Legion of honor ZemZem Temple, Saga Club, NRA,a past Monarch of Erepa Grotto, a Past Worthy Patron of the Union City America Chapter #19 Order of the Eastern Star, and a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, trap shooting and was an avid pet owner, especially enjoying his beloved dog "puppergirl". He especially enjoyed time with his family. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary Glenna Wright Yovich McGarvey; four children, Michael McGarvey, Michelle McGarvey, Daniel McGarvey (Anne) and Amy McGarvey; four grandchildren, Erika, Caleb, Kelsey and Jennifer; one great-grandson, Joel; three stepchildren, James Yovich (Suzanne), Steve Yovich (Heidi) and Merita Hatch (Rick); seven step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Marie McGarvey. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Betty Hollabaugh and Rev. Zachary Hatch. Private interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
