Edwin Harold Whitney Sr., 83, of North East, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2013. He passed away at his daughter's home in Wattsburg. Edwin was born on December 11, 1929 in Harborcreek, Pa., a son of the late Harold and Dorothea Peck Whitney Edwin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, as well as the National Guard. He served in the Korean War. In his many years he worked as a school bus driver for the Harborcreek School District, worked at the North East Dairy, as well as several other jobs, throughout his lifetime. Edwin was a devoted family man to his wife, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Jane Bartlebaugh Whitney, infant children, Garth, Debbie and Eleanor Whitney, one sister, Alvera Smith, one brother, Charles Garth Whitney and his grandson, Christopher James Cole. Edwin is survived by his son Edwin H. Whitney Jr. and his wife Nancy of North East, his daughter, Beverly Cole of Wattsburg and one brother Robert Whitney and his wife Shirleen of Harborcreek . He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St., North East, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend funeral services there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Rev. Sam Marchetta will officiate.
