Life long resident of Fairview Eleanor Kruse Rood, age 96, of Fairview, passed on to eternal life on Saturday February 9, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Fairview Township, Pa. on November 14, 1916 the daughter of the late Edward H. and Elsie Kreider Kruse. She graduated from Fairview High School, the class of 1935. Eleanor was married to Charles C. Rood in 1942, was a homemaker most of her life and was employed in house keeping for the Fairview School District for over ten years. She was a life member of Weis Library United Methodist church, where she taught the two & three year old Sunday School class for over 45 years. She was active with the Tri Boro Senior Center for many years. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Rood in 1971, by two brothers, Paul and Roger Kruse; and a sister, Charlotte Davis. She is survived by two daughters, Christene Keefer and her husband David of Raleigh, N.C.; and Geraldine Swartzfager and her husband Randy of Fairview; a son Howard C. Rood and his wife Margaret of Austin, Texas; a brother Edward Kruse and his wife Gretchen of Fairview; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street Girard, PA on Monday from 2 - 4 and 6-8 p.m and are invited to a service at Weis Library United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Frank Hodges officiating.
