Frank J. Janicki, age 96, of Erie, Pa., residing at Niagara Village passed away into Gods arms on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at UPMC Hamot, after a brief illness. He was born in Erie on May 11, 1916, the son of the late Wlaslaw "Walter" and Maryanna Janicki. Mr. Janicki was a machinist at General Electric for 43 years. He retired in 1980 and spent winters in Bonita Springs, Florida where he later met and at the age of 80, married a vibrant and talented musician, Viola Witt. He enjoyed life to fullest with her performances throughout South Florida. Throughout his life he enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing poker at local clubs and gin rummy with family. He enjoyed the casino as often as possible. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceeded in death by three brothers Casey, John, and Joseph Janicki, and two sisters Helen Kleiner, and Annabelle Sznajder. Also, by his daughter Dolores James. Mr. Janicki is survived by his brother Anthony Janicki of Florida, son Frank W. Zielinski and his wife Sue of Erie, his daughter Fran Gambino of Fredonia, New York, and several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Janicki was devoted to his family, proud of his Polish heritage and a member of several local clubs. He was independent and active, had a quick wit and lively spirit, and he had an uncanny ability to win at cards almost every time he played up to the time of his passing. At Mr. Janicki's request there will be no viewing.
