Martha Louise Bishop Russell, age 83, 1042 E. 11th St., passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Jefferson County, Pa. on November 6, 1929, daughter of the late Earl Bishop and Clara Helen Bishop. She was a resident of Erie for 41 years, relocating to Erie from Williamsport, Pa. She was a devoted housewife who loved taking care of her family and was an adoring grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, cleaning, and taking car rides. She also enjoyed music, especially Stevie Wonder (I Just Called to Say I Love You) and Al Green. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Russell; a daughter, Debbie Jean Gamble Williams; two brothers, Blaine and Richard Bishop; and two sisters, Shirley and Betty Bishop. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Lamar Williams of Erie; three daughters, Darlene Williams (Wadie) Smith, Melissa Williams (Terry Pacley) and Sally Williams, all of Erie; one sister, Helen Bishop of Erie; two brothers, Sam Bishop of Erie and Bud Bishop of St. Louis, Mo.; stepchildren, Cecil Russell, William Russell, Sr., Patricia Watkins, Brenda Russell; 40 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 E. 21st St. A service will follow at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. Michael Cole. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery. Funeralization by House of Law Inc., Penn Hills, Pa.
