Robert Arthur Mathews, age 66, of 705 Wallace St., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Golden Living Center-Walnut Creek. He was born in Vicksburg, Miss. on April 2, 1946, son of the late Henry Mathews and Minnie Moody. He was a resident of Erie for fifty years, relocating to Erie, with his family, from Albion, Michigan. He was a graduate of St. Vincent High School. He had been employed as a truck driver for Dunlap Trucking, and had previously worked at J. B. Hunt and GE. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and music, especially the blues. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Q. C. Lawson. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Elaine Y. Mathews of Erie and Jacqueline Sumerset (Ernest) of Grove City, Pa.; two grandchildren, De'Azhané and Damaury Mathews; his girlfriend, Sadie McKenzie Jones; and many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon), at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 E. 21st St., and will be followed by words of comfort. Interment will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens. Funeralization is by House of Law Inc., Penn Hills, Pa.
