Raymond John Maurana, age 88, of North East, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Ball Pavillion. He was born on August 23, 1924, in North East, to the late John and Mary Aquista Maurana. Raymond was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army Air Corp. He was formerly employed at General Electric, for over 40 years, retiring in 1986. Raymond was a member of St. Gregory Church, American Legion Post 105, and VFW Post 4789. He enjoyed fishing, making homemade wine and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Muscarella Maurana, March 31, 2010; brothers, Fanio and Carl Maurana; sisters, Kay Gaeta, Rose Delgado and Sara Maurana. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Maurana Bales and husband Howard of Milwaukee, Wis.; son, John Maurana and wife Peggy of Erie; grandson, Ian Bales. Friends are invited to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a prayer service on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Gregory Church.
