Boris I. Bondarenko, age 82 of Millcreek Twp., was called home on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the presence of his family. He was born in Snezhnoe, Ukraine on April 15, 1931, son of the late Ivan and Anna Bondarenko. A survivor of World War II, he lived in Erie for the past 11 years with his beloved wife of 55 years, Raisa Bondarenko. Boris was a member of the Russian-Ukrainian Baptist Church. He was always giving and helpful with any task, big or small. He enjoyed his rather large vegetable garden and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a true hero of faith, a wonderful father, beloved husband and the best grandpa ever. He will be missed by all who loved him. Survivors include his wife, Raisa; two daughters Galina Gidenko (Viktor) of Erie and Tatyana Sizhenkov (Serge) of the Ukraine; two sons Viktor Bondarenko (Liliya) of Erie and Leonid Bondarenko (Svetlana) of the Ukraine; twelve grandchildren: Olesya, Olga, Ivan and Nikita Bondarenko of Erie, Katya and Liliya Bondarenko of the Ukraine, Boris, Vladimir, Kristina and Serge Gidenko of Erie and Serge and Oksana Sizhenkov of the Ukraine; five great-grandchildren; three brothers Pavel, Vladimir, and Alexander; two sisters Lyudmila and Nadezhda. Preceded in death by one sister, Lyubov and one brother, Nikolay. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th Street on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment, Erie Cemetery.
