Neal H. Kleckner, Sr., age 88, of Millcreek Township, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Fairview Manor. Born in Erie on August 27, 1924, he was a son of the late Neil C. and Grace Mae (Etter) Kleckner. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and took part in the Normandy Invasion. In 1984, he retired from Erie General Electric, where he worked as an expediter for thirty eight years. He enjoyed riding around the peninsula, fishing, playing cards, and sitting around the campfires while camping. He took great interest in the activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and stayed busy taking care of family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Brian Kleckner; a brother, Jack Kleckner; and a sister, Virginia "Kate" Myers. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Jeanne P. (Carney) Kleckner; two sons, Duane Kleckner, wife Brenda, and Neal Kleckner, all of Erie; four daughters, Barbara S. Klem, husband Bill, of Millcreek, Linda Schick, husband Donald, and their family, of Millcreek, Sheila Marie Dingues, husband Gary, of Houston, Texas, and Christina Weglin, husband John, and their family, of Erie; grandchildren, Carol Lynn Kulesza, James David Martin, Christin Anne Martin, Amanda Knott, Gary Dingues, Jacob Kleckner, Rev. Brandon Kleckner, Shane, Sarah and Alexandra Kleckner; several great-grandchildren; step-sisters, Beverly Duffin and Bonnie Ziegler, both of Erie, and Gloria Troop, of North East; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Private services were held with his grandson, Rev.
