John Michael Carter, 46 of Erie formerly of Altoona died unexpectedly Sunday June 16, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie of a massive stroke. He was born in Altoona a son of the late Roy F. Carter and Shirley (Graffius) Carter Morris. Surviving are his fiancée MeLisa Markham and her children, Elizabeth and triplets Richard, Robert and Brian; his mother Shirley Morris; step-father Tom Morris; siblings Ken (Theresa) of Altoona; Dennis (Rebecca) of Fairfield; Tina Miller (Steve) of Rwanda; and Brian (Jeannie Frame) of Altoona. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; "dozens of cousins"; Best friends Michelle Mullens and her children Brittany and Jacobb Waddle of Columbus, Ohio and Tim Barlow of Phoenix, Ariz. as well as a community of friends in Erie and Altoona. John was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and was recently attending Erie Business Center where he was on the Dean's List for the past two semesters. He was a U.S. Navy veteran with ten years service as an electronics technician. John was a direct descendant of U.S. Civil War veterans and had family members fight in WWI and also WWII. Please do not dwell upon my death but celebrate my life. Celebration of my life to be held at 3208 Glenwood Park Ave. on July 18th 2013 at 4:00 p.m.
