Patrick D. Hanlin, Sr., age 49, of Erie passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from natural causes. Patrick was born March 10, 1964 in Cottonwood, Ariz. the son of Rita Turner Hanlin and the late David J. Hanlin, Sr.

Patrick began his life living overseas in Dhahram, Saudi Arabia and after living in Saudi for many years, he returned to the United States. He eventually ended up residing in Erie and earned several certificates in his lifetime, but was most proud of the one received in architectural design. Patrick also loved music and his favorite band was the Grateful Dead. He loved to travel and talk about the beautiful sights he would see along the way to their concerts. But his first love was his motorcycles. That became evident when he purchased three Harley Davidsons in the past three years.

Patrick wasn't perfect, none of us are, but he was a loving son, father, brother, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Patrick is survived by his mother, Rita J. Hanlin of Houston, Texas; a son, Patrick D. Hanlin, Jr. of Erie; a sister, Renee K. Hanlin of Erie; and a brother, David J. Hanlin, Jr. of Forisant, Colo., and will be sadly missed by his girlfrield, Terry Flagella. Also surviving are several nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Innocence Project, 40 Worth St., Suite 701, New York, NY 10013.
