Glendon E. Rice, Sr., age 83, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Brooklyn N.Y. on May 31, 1930, son of the late George H, Sr. and Eurie Inkpen Rice.

Glendon had lived in Erie since 1956. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Glendon was maintenance supervisor for the Holiday Inn South and following that, was owner and operator of the Erie Airport Limousine Service for 15 years, retiring in 1985. A member of the Salvation Army, following retirement, Glendon served as their Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator. He was a member of American Legion Carl Neff Post #571.

Besides his parents, Glendon was preceded in death by seven brothers and sister. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elsie Litz Rice; two daughters, Pamela Lasher (David) of Summit Twp. and Connie Miller (Jeffrey) of Erie; one son, Glendon Rice, Jr. (Dawn) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three sisters, Beulah Hafner of New Port Richey, Fla., Violet Woods of Jacksonville, Fla. and Betty Ryan (John) of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren, James (Jessica) and Michael (Nicole) Kenworthy, Lindsey and Nathan Lasher, Matthew, Lanty and Arianna Rice; three great-grandchildren, Kate, Jaelyn and Gracyn Kenworthy; a special great-great-niece, Madison Colley; many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
