Donald J. "Wuzzy" Wesolowski Obituary

Donald J. "Wuzzy" Wesolowski, age 72, of Erie, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 21, 2013 surrounded by his daughter and loving family. He was born October 20, 1940, in Erie, son of the late John Wesolowski and Anna Ferry Wesolowski Shelly.

Donald was a graduate of the former Erie Technical High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Wuzzy was employed as a machinist for 37 years by Skinner Engine Co. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and playing the slots at Presque Isle Downs and Casino. He was a member of UAW Local #1697.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Wesolowski. Survived by two daughters, Diane M. Carcic (Daniel) who lovingly cared for him and attended to him especially during his last few years of declining health, and Dawn M. Sexton; three grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Laux (Raymond) of Pittsburgh; his companion of 23 years, Jacqueline Fried and her children, Rob, Mark, Dawn Marie and Steven.

The Wesolowski family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care given to Wuzzy by Doctors, Carlson, Mikielski and Esper of Millcreek Community Hospital and the hospital staff, the staff at Ball Pavilion and Ascera Care Hospice, and a special thank you to his neighbor, Dave Nowling, for his care and concern.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to John Kanzius Cancer Research, 130 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16501.

A special tribute from Wuzzy's daughter, Diane: Dad, you don't know how much I am going to miss you! You might be gone from my sight, but never from my heart. Rest in Peace.
