Frank Barbaro, age 81, of Erie, died at the Pennsylvania Soldier's and Sailor's Home, in Erie, Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Born in Erie, August 16, 1931, he was a son of the late Dominick and Mamie (Anastasia) Barbaro.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Korean War. He was an ironworker by trade and a life member of the Ironworker's Union, Local #348 and also a member of the Laborer's Union, Local #603. He was proud of the accomplishments of his two grandchildren, Rosalie and Frank. He enjoyed playing golf and listening to jazz music. He had been a member of the Christian Assembly Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Rose Zuck, Joseph Barbaro and Catherine Pitto.

Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Candau and her husband Antonio, of Twinsburg, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rosalie and Frank Candau, both of Twinsburg, Ohio; two siblings, Helen LaPlaca and her husband John and Ralph Barbaro and his wife Tonia, both of Erie. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Sunday from 3 p.m. till 7:30 p.m., at which time a service will be conducted by family member John Miles. Private burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Pennsylvania Soldier's and Sailor's Home, Dementia Unit, 560 E. 3rd St., Erie, PA 16507.

Frank's family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at the Soldier's and Sailor's Home Dementia Unit for their excellent care.
