John "Jap" Fiamella, age 82, of North East died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born on June 24, 1931 in North East, Pa. to the late Frank and Sarah Triana Fiamella.

John was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force.

He was retired from General Electric, where he worked as a pipe fitter. After retirement, he worked as a general contractor.

John enjoyed woodworking, making homemade wine, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and his routine social coffee gathering.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ann Bell Fiamella; brothers, Angello and Donald Fiamella; sister Elizabeth Rizzo.

John is survived by his daughter, Darlene Dolak and husband Patrick of North East; sons Jack Fiamella and wife Tammy of North East and Jeff Fiamella and wife Jennifer of Brunswick, Ohio; grandchildren, William, Travis and Amanda; sister, Frida Rizzo of Florida.; brother, Joe Fiamella of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and are invited to attend a prayer service on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a mass of christian burial at 12:00 p.m., St. Gregory Church.
