Magdalena (Madge) Piotrowski, age 88, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Piotrowski; loving mother of John (Bobbie Jo) Piotrowski of Cincinnati, Ohio; Elizabeth Piotrowski of Washington, D.C.; Peter (Deborah) Piotrowski of Erie; Krista (James) Gray of Erie; Kara (Richard, deceased) Britt of Erie. She is survived by her ten cherished grandchildren: Tracy Piotrowski; Paula (Jonathan) Baker; Peter (April) Piotrowski; Andrew Piotrowski; Julie (Chad) Kelley; Daniel Piotrowski; Joshua (Val) Britt; Katherine Britt; Amelia and Hannah Gray; and her nine great-grandchildren: John, Rachelle, and Jessica Higgins; Robert and Austin Piotrowski; Emmaline, Ewan, Ellie, and Elyssa Piotrowski. She is also survived by many dear and loving family members, friends, and neighbors.

Madge was born in Erie on December 23, 1924, to the late Andrew and Anna Schlecht. She was also preceded in death by her two aunts, Helen and Margaret Wachter.

She attended St. Michael's Elementary School and Villa Maria Academy (Class of 1942) and was an active alumna. After graduating, she was employed by Zurn Industries as an executive secretary for ten years. Then she met the love of her life, Joseph Piotrowski. They were married on May 7, 1949, at St. Michael's. Madge and Joe were founding and lifelong members of St. Luke Parish. She was actively involved in the Rosary and Altar Society and PTA.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She also enjoyed her bridge club, various card clubs, golf, and traveling around the country, with a special fondness for the New England area. She had an amazing "green thumb," which drew multiple hummingbirds to her garden. She was an avid reader and enjoyed re-reading the classics.

Friends may call on Friday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to a service there on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke Church. Send condolences to Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
