John F. Gorski, Jr., age 79, of Girard Township, passed away Friday evening, December 27, 2013. He was born in Erie January 29, 1933, son of the late John F. and Rose Kubiak Gorski. He was a veteran of the Korean War
having served as a naval medic three of his four years with the Marines at Camps Geiger and Lejune. John worked at the Hammermill Paper Company for 42 years and then for two years at the Weyerhauser Paper Company in Sales, Marketing and Product Development. John enjoyed all sports. He played in both the city fast and slow pitch leagues. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates Fan.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Moscato; and his brother, Carl Gorski. John is survived by his wife, Midge Gorski; his children, Sue Gorski of Erie, Bev Gorski of Lake City, Pa., and Michael Gorski of Upper Arlington, Ohio; his four grandchildren, Rick, Jim, Austin and Josh Gorski; his two sisters, Theresa Zurawski and Marge DeLuca. He is also survived by Midge's children: Kathy, Bryan, Patrice, Nick, William, John, Carmen and Phill and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will celebrated Monday morning at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 10 a.m. The family also invites friends and family to call at the G. R. Bailey Funeral Home, 4396 Iroquois Ave., Lawrence Park, Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery.
