Charles E. Murphy, age 85, of North East, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at his daughter's home, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on December 2, 1928 to the late Francis Gerald and Myrna Emily Bauer Murphy.

Charles graduated from Youngsville High School in 1946, and was formerly employed at General Electric, until 1954. He also worked as a fruit farmer and was a Time Study for Electric Materials, in North East, for 22 years, until retirement.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 49 years and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge Westfield NY # 118.

Charles loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, boating, golf, and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. Easton Murphy and a son Dennis Charles Murphy.

He is survived by his daughters, Marian Ruggiero, Virginia MacDonald, and Rebecca Murphy, all of Erie; his sons, Steven Murphy and Gerald Murphy of North East; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9, and are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, at noon, at the funeral home. Rev. David Kuchta will officiate the funeral service. Interment will be in North East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16501, or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 30 Clinton Street, North East, PA 16428.
