Louis P. Mobilia, age 84, of North East, formerly of Ripley, N.Y., died on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born on March 20, 1929, in Erie, Pa., to the late Charles and Fourtunata Bongiovanni Mobilia.

Louis was formerly employed with the New York Thruway Department, as a heavy equipment operator, for 35 years, until retirement.

He was a member of the Ripley Hose Company #1 and the Westfield Loyal Order of Moose Lodge.

Louis loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed working on the farm, rebuilding tractors, finding machine parts, and watching his grandson's dirt track race.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Nicholas, and Vincent Mobilia; and sisters, Carmella Hake and Josie Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Fern Lucille Stout Mobilia, whom he married November 23, 1950; his daughters, Lou Ann Lyon (Jeff) of Ripley and Patricia Knight (Phillip) of Ripley; sisters, Angela Monti (Lou) of Bradford and Mary Mobilia of Cleveland; grandchildren, Kelly Reed (Sam), David Henry (Inga), Serena Henry (Ashley), Andrew Knight (Jaimee), Michael Knight (Katie); great-grandchildren, Bryce, Jadyn, Nevaeh, Divine, Tayte, Michael Jr., Kaylee, and Baby Knight; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special caregivers, Lynn Klawer, Lee Sharie, and Eula Blair.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Monday 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Phil Johnson. Interment will be in Quincy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ripley Hose Company #1, PO Box 342, Ripley, NY 14775.
