David Michael (Merritt) Niemeyer, 22, of Ashville, N.Y., died Monday, March 17, 2014, unexpectedly, at his home.

He was born December 12, 1991, in Erie, Pa., the son of Tammy Sipes Maynard and Rodger E. Niemeyer Jr. and the late Donald Merritt Sr. and his stepfather Patrick Maynard.

David had been employed at Corry Foamex in Corry, Pa. He recently suffered a broken foot.

Dave enjoyed everything – 4 wheelers, football, martial arts boxing, going on cruises, NASCAR racing, he loved being around his family, especially his nephew Gavin, whom he spent a lot of time with, when he could.

Besides his parents, Dave is survived by five sisters, Amanda (Shawn) Gates of Wattsburg, Pa., Kristina (John) Porter of Yuma, Ariz., Kimberly Merritt of Millvillage, Pa., Erin Spacht of Ashville, N.Y., and Lisa Niemeyer of Wattsburg; three brothers, Donald Merritt Jr. at home, Eric Maynard of Ashville, and Rodger (Jill) Niemeyer III of Wattsburg. David is also survived by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Wayne and Connie Sipes Sr. of Union City, Pa., Rodger and Charlotte Niemeyer Sr. of Wattsburg.

David was preceded in death by his late father Donald Merritt Sr.; two aunts, Sherry and Kim Sipes; one uncle, Wayne "Buddy" Sipes Jr.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Rev. Mark Teets, of the Mayville Community Bible Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, in the funeral home.
