Gerald Davis Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" or "JD" Davis, 66, of Tiona, Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren, surrounded by his children.

He was born August 2, 1948, in Crossingville, Pa., a son of the late Leo and Frances Hester (Kemp) Davis. Jerry lived in Tidioute most of his life and graduate from Tidioute High School in 1966. He enlisted in the US Army in September of 1966 until June of 1969 working as a Teletype Equipment Technician. After returning, he went on to work for Davis Logging Co. in Tidioute as a skidder operator. He also worked at the National Forge Co. as a machinist, then as an Instrumentation Technician, and also at Sabella Lumber Co., as a logger and truck driver, and lastly at PennDot, as Construction Inspection Supervisor, retiring from there. While living in Tidioute, he served on the Borough Council for 12 years. With the assistance of his children, Aaron, Brittany, and Courtney, he laid out and built the original ball field at Tippy Field for girls softball.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Davis of Corry, Pa., a son Aaron and his daughter Nova, of Fairview, Pa., two daughters, Brittany Davis of Corry and Courtney Edwards, and her children Mason and Sydney of Erie, sisters, Sheryl (Butch) Hulings of Tidioute, Joan (Jim) Riemenschneider of West Minister, Colorado, June (Nathan) Brown of Lockhaven, Pa. and her brother Frank (Mary) Davis of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m., at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St., in Youngsville. Final arrangements will be private.
