Harold Young Obituary

Harold R. Young, 96, formerly of Wilson Borough, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Weston Senior Living Center at Sullivan Trail, Forks Township. Born April 16, 1920, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Harvey H. and Anna Hazel (Ilff) Young. His wife of 69 years, Doris (McMains) Young, died August 28, 2015. Harold had been a barber in Wilson Borough for 59 years. He served with the US Navy during World War II on board the U.S.S. Emmons. Harold had been very active in the Martins Creek Senior Center and enjoyed hunting in Tioga County. He was a member of Richmond United Methodist Church. Harold was a life member of VFW Post 2540, Stroudsburg. Surviving are his children, Virginia Happel and her husband Michael, of Emerald Isle, NC , Gail Fensch and her husband Dr. Stephen, of Cherry Hill, NJ and Ralph Young and his wife Marla, of Port Charlotte, FL; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Minerva Berry and a brother, Kenneth H. Young. Services will be held at 10am Saturday, January 28th in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Family will receive friends from 9-10am Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassus Hospice, 7248 Tilghman Street, Suite 160, Allentown, PA 18106 or to the charity of your choice.

"Youngie" was my barber from the late 1950's to when he closed his Wilson shop. He was a good barber and a nice person.
