Norman Coulson Obituary

HANOVER Norman G. Coulson, 93, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at his home. He was the loving husband of Betty Jane (Fahs) Coulson, who died September 17, 2012. Born March 10, 1920, in Hanover, Norman was the son of the late Raymond P. and Aneta (Weaver) Coulson. Norman was a 1939 graduate of the Eichelberger High School, Hanover. He attended the University of Munich in Germany. Norman served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in Ft. Meade and Ft. Dix. Norman retired after 57 years as a self-employed architect. He was a registered architect in PA, NY, NJ, DE and MD. He was also chief architect for one year during the clean-up of the Dachau, Germany, concentration camp. Norman was a member of the Harold H. Bair, Post 14 American Legion of Hanover, the Columbia Moose, the VFW of West York, and the Hanover Elks Lodge #763. Norman is survived by two half siblings, Doris Reisinger and Raymond Hilliar; sisters-in-law, Vesta Coulson and Janet Hilliar; and nieces, Holly, Valerie, Lana, and Vanessa. Following cremation, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Norman to the charity of your choice. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com

This year 2025, 80 yrs. after the end of WWII we have less than 70,000 veterans left. Norm part of the greatest generation was some of the very best people that I have ever known. They Made America Great!

I remember Norm, every day. Norms military photo is kept in plain, in my home. He'll always be a close friend and I send my prayers out to him and Bets, daily. They are greatly missed.

Wow! 8 years since Norm left us. I was just talking about memories tonight at dinner with friends, escaping Pa.'s cold in Florida. One person that will probably be with me a long time. Our country once again needs people like Norm and his generation. The Greatest Generation.

Wow! Life goes by so fast! As I wake up and realize it has been 6 years since Norm has left us. I often think of Norm and have conversation about him. Norm was 1st class!! I am blessed to have known him on my journey through life. I will never forget the last conversation on the telephone with him being that I was the last to speak to him minutes before his passing. It is true that Norm was part of the greatest generation. He had very high standards and a very sharp mind. Norm was a celebrity in my household, and I left him know that. I think I was blessed with being the last person to talk with him, and talking with him was always a pleasure. Business relationships that developed into strong friendships.
