Thomas Tulley Obituary

WESTMINSTER, MD Thomas W. Tulley, 81 died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Carroll Hospice's Dove House. He was the husband of Ardyce Tulley, his wife of 55 years. He was born November 21, 1932, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Martin and Helen Tulley. Mr. Tulley graduated from Connellsville High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. He graduated from Penn State University in 1958 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture, and earned his M.S. degree in education from Syracuse University in 1964. He taught for five years in Panama, N.Y., and 28 years at North Carroll Middle School. He also taught Driver's Education for 25 years. He retired in 1991. Mr. Tulley was a longtime member of St. John's Catholic Church. He served on the parish council, ushered, and counted offering. He was an active volunteer for many years for the St. Vincent DePaul society. He was a Life Member of the Westminster Council Knights of Columbus, serving two terms as Grand Knight and one term as Faithful Navigator. He chaired the Marigold Program for 15 years and was a member of the Carroll Post 31 American Legion. He is survived by wife, Ardyce Tulley; daughter and son-law, Candyce and Benjamin Marcantoni; and son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, Thomas S. and Marimil Tulley and Joshua and Jacob Tulley. He is also survived by siblings, Karen Shandorf and John Tulley; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster 21157. Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. John's Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD. 21157; or the Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster MD. 21157.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Tulley's passing. He was one of my all-time favorite teachers, I so enjoyed his wonderful sense of dry humor. He always told us that his middle initial stood for Wonderful. He was right. My condolences to the family.
