Betty J. Bevenour

HANOVER Betty Jane (Valentine) Bevenour, 89, formerly of Spring Grove, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was the loving wife Richard S. Bevenour, who passed away in 1996. Betty was born in Midway, on October 14, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Charles F. Valentine and the late Bertha (Hyser) Valentine. She worked at Super Shoes and Sterner's Grocery Store in Hanover. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Grove. She enjoyed watching birds, loved animals, and cherished the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine C. Dennis and her husband, Dalvin of Hanover; her son, Paul E. Bevenour and his wife, Patriciaof Abbottstown; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles W. Valentine; and her sisters, Nadine Orndorff and Nellie Bowman. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with Fr. Paul Schenck officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Oxford. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
