Beula Mae Sterner

HANOVER Beula Mae Sterner, 87, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Hanover Hospital. She was the wife of Robert Lanton Sterner, Sr. who died June 15, 1988. Born August 3, 1925, in Abbottstown, she was the daughter of the late Burtis and Annie (Staub) Sterner. Beula was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Broadway, Hanover. She was a sunday school teacher and was active in a number of functions and church groups over the years. She was also a member of the Penn Twp. Lioness Club. Beula enjoyed playing cards with her card club and was an Avon representative for more than 60 years. In addition, she was a volunteer with the PAL lunch program and was the coordinator of the program for St. Paul's Broadway. Surviving are two children, Robert L. Sterner, Jr. and his wife Judith Ann of Downingtown, and Linda Sterner, Hanover; two grandchildren, Hillary Brogan and Kara Hicswa; two great-grandchildren, Jake and Max Brogan; two siblings, Romaine Spangler, Hanover and Richard Sterner, Chambersburg. Beula Mae was preceded in death by four brothers, Francis, Dale, Lawrence and Burtis Sterner and four sisters, Anna Laura Sterner, M. Helen Sterner, Ruth Sterner and Mildred Wagaman. A service to celebrate the life of Beula Mae Sterner will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1240 Broadway, Hanover, with Rev. Terrence McCarthy officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
