Charles E. Stockham

NEW OXFORD Charles E. Stockham, 79, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Hanover Hall. He was the husband of Arlene G. (Dusman) Stockham, who died October 9, 2006. Charles was born April 29, 1933, in Manchester, Md., the son of the late Hartranft and Lillian I. (Bowen) Stockham. Charles was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gettysburg Ward, and he served in the Washington, D.C. temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the National Guard and as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 104th Armored Infantry Division, and was the former owner of Stockham's Garage and the proprietor of Stockham's Village, Inc. in New Oxford. He was a hard worker who enjoyed farming and beekeeping. Charles is survived by two daughters, Joyce L. Racey and her husband, Gary of New Oxford, and Ann J. Mejia and her husband, Jeovanny of Murray, Utah; a son, Ivan L. Stockham and his wife, Leslie of New Oxford; five grandchildren, Todd Racey and his wife, Lisa, Hailey Stockham, Jacob Stockham, Kayla Stockham, and Taylor Stockham; a great-grandson, Carson Racey; a brother, Edwin Stockham of Sykesville, Md.; and a sister, Helen Shireman of New Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1170 Kohler Mill Road, New Oxford, with President Wayne Bushey, II officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Military rites will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
