Clair E. Rebert

HANOVER Clair E. Rebert, 100, of entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, February 16, 2014. Clair was born on a winter night, March 9, 1913, on a large country farm near Hanover. He would soon be a part of a large family whose "typical day" will be hard work, long hours, and no vacations. But at the evening meal each day, everything that mattered was discussed, including how to help all neighbors whatever their needs. Christian parents provided moral instructions as needed. At the end of the day, time was left for Bible reading. He was preceded in death by parents, Samuel M. and Effie (Little) Rebert, and also ten loving brothers and sisters. He graduated from Hanover High School and Northeastern University of Boston, Mass. In World War II, he was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Asiatic Pacific (campaign ribbon - one star). Clair retired in regional service for Capitol Recovery Service, Fairfax, Va. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014, 2 p.m. at Christ UCC Church Cemetery, Littlestown, with the Rev. Joel Hummel officiating. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com
