Denise C. Jacoby

HANOVER Denise C. Jacoby, 60, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at her home after a courageous four year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the wife of Richard. C. Jacoby, her husband of 42 years. Born November 30, 1952, in Quonset-Point, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Richmond) Lauro. Denise was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Hanover and a life member of SAVES. She was a 1970 graduate of Hanover High School and spent more than 20 years working as a recruiter with SHS Staffing Solutions in Hanover. Denise loved her times at the beach, volunteered at the local homeless shelter, and was an avid bingo player. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are five children, Laura Borgia and her husband, William of Cherry Hill, N.J., Jaime Jacoby of Red Lion, Sarah Jacoby and her husband, Matthew of Hanover, Joshua Jacoby and his wife, Samantha of Harrisburg, and Corey Jacoby and his fiancee, Molly of Ephrata; three siblings, Michelle Rineman and Mark Lauro, both of Hanover, and Annette Lauro-Wentz of Spring Grove; two grandchildren, Kaylyn and Payton; and her beloved dog, Harry. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Basilica, Hanover, with the Rev. John Schmalhofer officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Denise may be made to Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325; or Guthrie Memorial Library, 301 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA 17331.
