Donald A. Hippensteel

ABBOTTSTOWN Donald A. Hippensteel, 75, went to his final resting place on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Florida Hospital of Zephyrhills, Florida after a long struggle with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS). He was the husband of Peggy A. (Keller) Hippensteel with whom he would have celebrated 48 years of marriage on February 5, 2013. Donald was born November 2, 1937, in Hanover, the son of the late Arthur V. and M. Helen (Sanders) Hippensteel. Donald retired as a truck driver with McCrory Stores in 1995 after more than 28 years of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, was a member of the Gettysburg Moose, and loved to travel, camp, fish and hunt. He wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla., with his wife Peg and loyal dog "Sparky". Each year, he loved to attend and see the "shiny trucks" and "Make a Wish" families on their annual convoy. In addition to his wife Peg, Donald is survived by a daughter, Sherri Keller of Abbottstown; a son, Tony Hippensteel and wife of New Oxford; a grandson, Tony Hippensteel II and a granddaughter, Tara Hippensteel, both of New Oxford. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tess Hippensteel and a sister, Janet Cover. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc. 301 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with Rev. Douglas C. Hahn officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made to the Truck Convoy for Wishes, 39 Rolling Lane, Abbottstown, PA. 17301.
