Doris L. Kitzmiller

SPRING GROVE Doris L. (Strausbaugh) Kitzmiller, 72, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Donald L. Kitzmiller. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage. Doris was born in Edge Grove Township in Hanover, on September 21, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Mary (Small) and Robert Strausbaugh. She was a member of the Spring Grove VFW Post Ladies Auxilary and a former member of the Moose Lodge in McSherrystown and Hanover VFW Ladies Auxilary. In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by her daughters, Deborah George and husband, Gregory of Spring Grove, Sharon Kerchner and husband, Keith of Spring Grove, and Catherine Allen and husband, Andrew of Spring Grove; her sons, Donald L. Kitzmiller, Jr. and wife, Amanda of Spring Grove, and William J. Kitzmiller and companion, Dawn Freeman of Spring Grove; her 13 grandchildren, Greg, Melissa, Thomas, Jeremy, Jennifer, Tyler, John, Kyle, Amanda, Donald III, Dustin, Brittane, and Justine; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda Griffin, Maryann Leese, Kay Wolfe, and Barbara Morian; her brothers, Ted, Albert, Irvin, Gary, and Fred Strausbaugh; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-grandchild and her brothers, John, Paul, and William "Buck" Strausbaugh. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Peter Ogilvie officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Spring Grove Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
