Dovie E. Royston

GETTYSBURG Dovie E. Royston, 81 of Gettysburg, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at the Gettysburg Hospital with her loving family surrounding her. Born November 29, 1931, in Whipple, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Gertrude (Peyatt) Pritt. She was the wife of the late Douglas P. Royston, Sr., who passed away in January of 1998. Mrs. Royston worked for many years at Sealed Air/Jiffy Packaging of Hanover until her retirement. Dovie spent her entire life caring for her family and being a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and motherly figure to many. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Cool and husband David of Gettysburg; two sons, Douglas Royston, Jr. and wife Deborah of Gettysburg, and Timothy Royston and wife Judith of East Berlin; eight grandchildren, Matthew Cool and wife Joni of Camp Hill, Ryan Cool of Gettysburg, Erin McCloskey and husband Matthew of Bensalem, Emily Royston of New York, N.Y., Heather Norvelle and husband Garrett of Charlottesville, Va., Meghan Royston and friend Jordan Livelsberger of Hanover, and Emma and Lucas Royston of East Berlin; a great-grandson, Camden Cool; four sisters, Charity Speelman of Orrtanna, Sylvia Altice of Gardners, Marie Naugle of Gettysburg, and Betty Shafer of Hanover; four brothers, Bobby Pritt of Orrtanna, Wesley Pritt of Gettysburg, Clarence Pritt of Gettysburg, and Tony Pritt of Abbottstown; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Minnie Pritt, Verdie Richardson, Nellie Light, Andrew Pritt and James Pritt. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at noon from Intersection Church of Gettysburg, 1980 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA (NE corner of Route #97 and Route #15), with Pastor Jeremiah Herbert officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, and as well as on Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until noon.
