Ella L. Dewberry

MCSHERRYSTOWN Ella L. Brown Dewberry, 68, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the York Hospital. She was born September 26, 1945, in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Lucille Dorsey Brown, Sr. Ella was a member New Life Outreach Ministries in Gettysburg. Ella worked at numerous nursing facilities in the area, including Michael Manor, as well as private duty nursing. Ella enjoyed gardening, reading, and was an avid connoisseur of vintage movies. She enjoyed spending time with her family and church. Mrs. Dewberry is survived by her children, Lucille LBM Latterman and her husband, David of Airville, Ella L. Smith and her husband, Monroe of Camp Hill, Mary E. Brown of Hanover, Pastor Raymond McGee of New Oxford, Willie J. McGee and his wife, Jessica of Hanover, Jubie L. McGee of Hanover, Ernest A. Shirley of Bonneauville, Lance E. Brown and his wife, Karin of Orrtanna, and Bill A. Shirley and his wife, Susan of Gardners; 25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Thomas A. Brown, Jr. of Marysville, William L. Brown of Gettysburg, Howard Dorsey of Orrtanna, and Peggy A. Dorsey of Silver Spring, Md. She was predeceased by two brothers, Michael J. Brown and Ernest A. Brown. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. from New Life Outreach Ministries, Franklin St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Victor Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
