Estella Kachele

HANOVER Estella Kachele, 80, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at Hanover Hospital. She was the wife of Walter J. Kachele, her husband of 57 years. Born January 4, 1933, in Santa Rita, N.M., she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Elisa (Ontiveros) Carrasco. Estella was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving for three years during the Korean Conflict. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, and WIMSA-Women in Military. Estella was a former den leader for Cub Scout Pack 107 as well as a former committee member for Boy Scout Troop 107 with Annunciation Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Neil Kachele and Ward Kachele, both of Hanover; one granddaughter, Brandy Keller and her husband, James; and 10 siblings, David Carrasco, Roberto Carrasco, Alicia Gonzales, Maria Chaves, Margaret Carrasco, and Frank Carrasco, all of New Mexico, Genoveva Flores and Manuel Carrasco, Jr. of California, Susanna Wholey and Raquel Geddes of Texas. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held 10 am Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Annunciation Catholic Church, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating.
