Ethel G. Breighner

NEW OXFORD Ethel G. (Sheely) Breighner, 96, formerly of East Berlin, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of Elmer P. Hoffheins, who died February 19, 1966, and Robert J. Breighner, who died December 16, 1974. Ethel was born June 8, 1917, in Oxford Twp., the daughter of the late George D. and Ora K. (Geisbert) Sheely. Ethel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin, AARP, and retired from Doubleday Book Company in Hanover. Ethel is survived by two daughters, Susan H. Clauser and her husband, Bradley of East Berlin, and Sarah J. Kopp and her husband, Steven of Baltimore, Md.; three stepdaughters, Gladys Raubenstine of Hanover, Nadine Stock of New Oxford, and Janet Howe of New Oxford; a stepson, Elmer P. Hoffheins, Jr. of Hanover; two granddaughters, Christina L. Clauser of Dover and Elizabeth L. Clauser of East Berlin; nine stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandson, Ian D. Morehead. She was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Zeilman, Alma Schantz, Viola Schantz, and Ruth McCarthy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with the Rev. Gerald P. Strek officiating. Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
