Gladys L. Smith

LITTLESTOWN Gladys L. Smith, 83, died early Thursday morning, November 8, 2012, at Hanover Hospital. She was the widow of Francis J. Smith, who died September 10, 1975. Born April 26, 1929, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur R. and Ethel M. (Nichols) Kline. Gladys was a 1948 Greencastle Antrim High School graduate. She was a homemaker. Surviving are three daughters, Judy A. Smith of Gettysburg, Shirley M. Wonder of York Springs, and Rosemary M. Smith of Littlestown; four sons, Terry L. Smith of Hanover, Michael F. Smith and John E. Smith, both of Littlestown, and Ronald J. Smith of East Berlin; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Paul Kline of Kernersville, N.C.; and a sister, Kathleen Witmer of Greencastle. Gladys was predeceased by two brothers, L. Ray and Melvin Kline. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown, where she taught Sunday School for 24 years. She was a Ladies Auxiliary life member of the following: Bonneauville Catholic War Veterans, Littlestown V.F.W., and F.O.E. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with The Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant. Viewing is Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, with prayers recited at 8 p.m. Interment is in the Parish Cemetery.
