Guy R. Leese

HANOVER Guy R. Leese, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, August 4, 2013, at his residence. Born September 10, 1934, in Melrose, Md., he was the son of the late Harry M. and Marie E. (Mathias) Leese. Guy served his country proudly and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Hanover Shoe Company after 39 years of service. Prior to his illness, Guy was employed by the Hanover Eagles, Post #1406. Guy was a member of St. David's (Sherman) United Church of Christ, Hanover. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Hanover, Post #2506, the Amvets of Hanover, Post #22 as well as the Eagles of Hanover, Post #1406. Guy enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a loyal fan of the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He was also an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. Guy is survived by his sons, Steven R. Leese and companion Terri Leese, Jeffrey A. Leese and companion Cindy McMaster, Christopher M. Leese, Scott A. Leese and his wife, Stacy, Eric S. Holland and his wife Lori all of Hanover; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as casketbearers will be Aaron Leese, Nathan Leese, Amanda Leese, Lacey Noel, Phil Noel and Kevin Zumbrum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Guy's memory to the VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N.
