Harry P. Bowers

BONNEAUVILLE Harry P. Bowers, 71, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the husband of 36 years to Madeline M. (Chrismer) Bowers. Born August 22, 1941, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Joseph F. Bowers and Mary (Hartlaub) LePore. Harry was retired from Neiderer Sanitation and was formerly employed with Keystone Sanitation. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Bonneauville, the Catholic War Veterans in Bonneauville, and the Littlestown Eagles. Harry was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Nascar. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Barry Bowers of Hanover, Mark Bowers and his wife Susan of Littlestown, Tammy Bowers of York, and Kristy Barnhart and her husband Luke of Harrisburg; five grandchildren: Shane, Jordan, Jeremy, Nathan, and Misti Bowers; two great-grandchildren: Landon and Zurich Bowers; four siblings: Barbara, Ben, Felicia, and Chris. He was preceded in death by a sister: Josephine Phillips. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Bonneauville, with Rev. Augusty Valomchalil officiating. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Harry may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church, 12 E. Hanover St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
